BRAMBILLA FERDINANDO
Milan 1838 - 1921
He studied at the Accademia di Brera with G. Sogni, F. Hayez and R. Casnedi, with whom he collaborated for the realisation of the lunettes of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan (L'America e L'Arte, 1865, replaced by mosaics in 1910). Tied to the Romantic ways both in the fresco decorations (Lodi, Chiesa dell'Incoronata, 1876) and in the paintings with historical-literary subject (La Monaca di Monza, Una romanza di Cimarosa, Milan, Modern Art Gallery), in some artworks Brambilla experimented also some Orientalist style themes (Mercato di schiave al Marocco, winner of the Premio Principe Umberto in 1879).
