Complete book with its 8 plates, engraved and laminated on China paper, signed by Grandville. The iconography is complemented by many illustrations in the text.

‘L’Ingénieux Hidalgo Don Quichotte de la Manche’ or ‘L'Ingénieux Noble Don Quichotte de la Manche’ (Spanish original title: El ingenioso hidalgo don Quixote de la Mancha) is a novel written by Miguel de Cervantes and published in Madrid in two parts, in 1605 and 1615.

Both a medieval novel and a modern novel at the time, the book is a parody of medieval customs and chivalric ideals, and a critique of the social structures of a rigid Spanish society considered absurd. Don Quixote is a major milestone in literary history and the interpretations given are multiple, pure comedy, social satire, political analysis. It is considered to be one of the most important novels of Spanish and world literatures. The character is at the origin of the Don Quixote archetype, a generous and idealist character standing against injustices.
