Louis GAROT: Belgian/Dutch school. Louis GAROT is a sought-after Impressionist Belgian school painter born circa 1900 in Brussels or the Netherlands. Listed and mentioned in Flemish art books. He is a painter of landscapes, woods and still life. His use of paint is generous, his palette is rich and bright, his style is impressionist: he likes to play with the light effects mainly in the undergrowth of the forest of Soignes he painted admirably. Exhibitions at the ‘Salon d’Art’ of Woluwé-Saint-Pierre in the 50s. Sources: Guide PIRON. About the painting: The work in question is a magnificent large oil on canvas, signed at the bottom left, of a pond at Rouge-Cloître at the edge of Soignes forest, in autumn. Excellent quality work, in the usual yellow and green palette of the artist, with superb lighting. This work was bought at auction in 2009 for € 1.200 and has since been restored, varnished and framed for € 350 in Paris for a total value of € 1550. I am letting it go in order to acquire other items. It is a gorgeous work the golden frame only enhances.
