Angelo Bragalini - Vazen met antropomorfe figuren
Vases in embossed tooled copper with anthropomorphic figures. Signed Bragalini, engraved onthe base. Circa 1960.
Angelo Bragalini, an eclectic and elusive artist from Bologna, has quietly worked for many years, crossing the history of the arts of the city and of Italy. He was a sculptor, goldsmith, decorator, painter and set designer.
Among his works, the 30 polystyrene sculptures stand out, which he made for the scenographies of the film "8½" by Fellini. They are female nudes in the renaissance style, measuring approx. 2.5 metres tall and painted gold. In the 1950s, from his study in Via delle Rose, emerged the terracotta portrait of Monica Vitti, or even those of the many Ferragamo or Capucci models. Last but not least, the gold jewellery, including the one donated to the Vatican in the 1960s, probably a large cross, the decorations of glass and wood panels that covered the halls of the ship Andrea Doria, sunk in 1956, and the furnishings of the personal yacht of King Faruq of Egypt.
