CARION & SCHNEIDER
A high quality art deco lamp by François CARION the famous Brussels based belgian blacksmith (1884 - ?). The iron is signed F.Carion and it holds a signed very rare Schneider shade in mottled glass paste. An authentic lamp that can be dated around 1925. The lamp is in very good condition. It is 33 cm high and the egg shaped shade has a height of 16 cm and a collar of 8cm. On the pictures it looked like the lower part of the shade is almost white. In reality it is a greyish beige and mauve coloured tone. So I added one photo of the shade next to a really white Schneider shade so you can see the difference (see last picture, of coarse the white shade is no part of the auction!)
For his lamps Carion either used Belgian made shades in cheap thin pressed glass or the more luxerous glass paste shades which he ordered in France at the glass manufactory of Charles Schneider.
The lamp is wired with new rayon covered twistted cord and a European E14 socket. For the USA or Japan I will rewire it with an American candelabra base socket and 2-prong plug.
